Now this is important because we have tried to do this for the last 2 months and no matter how early we get up, it just seems we can't quite get to camp for 6 or 7. But today we hoped that it would be different!
Fueled up with koza power, we were off to a speedy start at about 20 km/h and feeling great! Thanks to mike for the bike path directions; it was a beautiful way to leave the city.
(p.s this is a shoe tree, we saw it today and we don't know why but there it was)
As the day rolled on, the heat picked up. Without much wind, we fried like pancakes on the hot steep hills and decided to stop at a nice little town called Norland for lunch. Under a shady tree we refueled ourselves for with peso sandwiches, cherries, juice and cranberry orange scones.
Feeling ready to take on the heat again, we headed off but with steady uphills and little water in sight we all wished that we were back at the umbrellas to go for a swim in the cool clear water.
Late in the afternoon, we were finally able to come across a lake and refreshed ourselves with cool water mug root-beer!
We also got information about the next town along, Tory hill, where we planned to camp.
Upon arriving in Tory hill we discovered it had no camp ground but there was a play park that we might be able to camp at. But after a lovly chat with Dave, owner of the local nursery, we were informed that camping at the park was not a good ideas. He inferred that other locals might take the no camping rule quite seriously!
However, he graciously welcomed us to stay on his land and use the outhouse, water and even make long distance phone called to anywhere we wanted! What a treat...
That was when he told us the weather forecast for the next week. Hot, hot, hot. Sun sun sun. Humid humid humid...uhhhh oh!
